Pearl Necklace?

Excuse the horribly crude title but that's the first thing that sprung to mind when I saw this photo of Lady Gaga this morning.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the Gaga and think she's a fashion beast BUT (and there's always a but) I can't help thinking she looks like a glamorous white-washed sea-anemone. I love the jacket and hat (pearly bubbles included), I love the hot-pink lipstick and mega heels - it's just the whole pearly face/body/legs thing I can't get to grip with. If she'd left it to the face I would have fallen head over heels for this look but sadly, she didn't.

What do you think of Gaga's latest fashion ensemble?

Off Duty

Model street style - just one of the many perks of attending LFW. I'm getting a bit bored of the whole black leggings, black top, black boots, black bag, maybe the odd black fur - you get the idea. I'm hoping the cold winter weather is the only reason why everyone is being so boring at the moment (although having a serious aversion to colour, I can hardly talk).

Here are a few of my favourites from past and present, think of it as a teaser to the coming weeks.

Byrdie Bell

Dree Hemingway

Irina Lazareanu

Liu Wen

Sasha Pivovarova

I love Dree's hair and Irina's general look but I'm hoping the girls will step it up a notch this season. Abbey Lee looked perfect backstage at the Issa show (check out my photos here) so there's no excuse!

I'll be working backstage and hopefully be attending some shows again this season so watch this space for exclusive photo's, gossip and information during LFW.

Disclaimer...

If you're in any way, shape or form offended by nudity then a) get a life and b) look away now.

LOVE magazine, out in the UK since last Thursday, features eight supermodels (with super bodies) on eight different covers. Daria Werbowy is one of my favourite models; the shoot by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott is amazing and if I looked like that then damn! I'd be butt naked too.

Granted, there is little fashion content but we have to make exceptions every now and then.

The last photo reminds me of the artist Jenny Saville, a personal favourite of mine, which can't be a bad thing!

Tag Team

The lovely lady over at Electric Feel 'tagged' me yesterday and although I'm completely at a loss about what this actually means (I think the idea is to answer the questions and then tag the people you want to answer them), I thought I'd have a stab.

FAVOURITE

Band/Artist:
This is a tough one because it changes every other month but right now it's Mumford & Sons

Video:
This incredible Australian Vogue editorial With Catherine McNeil and Abbey Lee

Movie:
I have too many to narrow down to one, so here's a top 5: Shawshank Redemption, Clueless, X-Men, Mean Girls, Snatch

Book:
I wish that this wasn't, but unfortunately it is - Twilight (ahh cringe, cringe cringe!)

Designer/Label:
Prada/Balmain (but I love Marc Jacobs, McQueen and Chanel just as much!)

Festival:
Definately Reading but Glastonbury is an extremely close second.

TV Show:
Skins, ANTM, The Hills, Miami Ink

Icon:
Ooh another toughie. I'm gonna say Grace Coddington as a career icon and MK & Ashley as style icons.

The last two questions were pretty lame (Favourite City and Favourite Memory) so I left it at Icon. I'm not going to tell anyone else to do it, but, if I were going to I'd chose The Virtue of Style, That Girl Lucy and Cindy Whitehead because I love their blogs!

Skye High

Sunday afternoon - dinner is in the oven and I'm imagining the excitement that will soon surround Somerset House. I worked, for the first time, at London Fashion Week last season and it was just incredible. I'd attempted, although very unsuccessfully (think stairs + 5 inch platforms = me on my ass, cringe!), to worm my way into a couple of shows the previous seasons but alas! I had no luck.

It's really exciting to be working there again; the shows, the street style and my favourite part, the models. I love seeing what they wear between shows and, if they look half as cool as Skye Stracke does here, then we're in for a treat!

She's got such a natural pouty mouth and looks gorgeous being both fierce on the runway and on the street. I'm hoping she'll be in London and will bring those to-die-for leopard Laboutin's.

I'm also really intrigued to see what the Gaga wears to her shows of choice. Whose street style are you looking forward to seeing throughout the various Fashion Weeks?

Look-a-like

I know, I know, I know - I need to post about someone other than RiRi, Lady Gaga, Freja or Abbey. I just can't help but love their personal styles. Freja always looks the part in band-tee's, skinny jeans and combat boots (black of course), Gaga in something amazingly crazy, Abbey in maxi-dresses and biker jackets and Rihanna in whatever's hot.

Since the SS10 shows last September, Rihanna has really emerged as someting of a fashion-powerhouse. It seems that most of what she wears, with a few exceptions, looks really incredible; and she has been known to look a lot better in outfits than the catwalk Size 0's - an achievement considering she's not waifer-thin.

I've rummaged around and found a couple of recent 'street style' shots which I think look great on her and that can be replicated at a reasonably decent price. Admittedly, I would never wear Look 3, but it just reminds me of her Pon De Replay days - though I doubt that was the look she was aiming for.

Blazer, jumper, bag - Topshop. Glasses - ASOS. Boots - All Saints

Leather sleeveless jacket, long sleeved top - Topshop. Gloves, necklace - ASOS.

Top - Elizabeth & James @ Net-A-Porter. Jeggings - Topshop. Necklace, ring - Asos.

I will start posting about different people, it's not fashion ignorance - I promise! Who are your modern style icons?

A Single Man

I can't WAIT to see this!

I love Colin Firth (in a father-daughter sort of way) so I'm really excited about this hot collab with Tom Ford. It's about George, an English university proffessor (Firth) who loses his long-term partner (Matthew Goode) in a car crash. It's Ford's directorial debut and he's definately beginning with a bang; Julianne Moore and Nicholas Hault are simply the icing on the cake.

Tom Ford's creative genious + compelling 'meaning of life' tale surrounding a gay proffessor in the early 60s = cinematic heaven. These photo's alone, show how beautiful the film will be.

" A SINGLE MAN is a romantic tale of love interrupted, the isolation that is an inherant part of the human condition, and ultimately the importance of the seemingly smaller moments in life."
