MUM DOES MARC

When leggings came back into fashion my mum frequently reminded me 'I used to have loads of leggings, they would have fitted you now aswell...'. When platform soled heels came back into fashion my mum made a point of telling me 'I used to have a great pair of platforms, they would have fitted you now aswell...'. And so it goes on, season after season I am frequently reminded that my own mother had an amazing wardrobe, in what would have been my size. Were it not taken to a charity shop for strangers to devour, that is.

So when mum recently claimed she had a pair of boots 'just like the ones at Marc Jacobs, they would have fitted you now aswell...', I wasn't expecting material goods, as along with the rest of her 'amazing wardrobe' they were probably sitting in the hands of Cancer Research.

How wrong could I have been? It turns out she had stashed these bad boys - practically unworn - purely for the fact they cost £300 in the 80s. I think I struck gold, and of course, they do fit - like a glove.

I should probably grow another 7 inches before even considering wearing these beauties in public, but I can't see that happening anytime soon.

Mid thigh is the new over the knee.

EAT MY SHORTS MUICCIA

Excuse the Simpsons reference but seriously, what are these utility shorts that look as attractive as sandpaper pants? I can't say I like what came out at Prada this A/W.

Everything looked a little stiff and strangely forced, appropriately described by Sarah Mower as looking as though it were constructed from "domestic upholstery fabric". I'm not keen on the tan leather jacket and the ribbed cardigans although I do quite like the silouette created from the slouching red coat (as worn by the gorgeous Lara Stone) and strangely enough the black fishing waders.

IT'S A 'J' THING

I know this is late. Overdue, infact.

Jethro from January A/W Catwalks, and Josh, being, well, Josh.
The most beautiful boys in fashion? I think so.

Need I say more? No.

IN BRIEF: FASHION WEEK

Although there were, in my eyes, some questionable A/W collections (Henry Holland foe example looked as though he had taken inspiration from a Homebase colour chart), I have put together some of my favourite looks for next season.

Apologies for the ridiculously small pictures, I am yet to get a decent editing program.

I loved the overall aesthetic at Mark Fast and can't wait for affordable interpretations to turn up across the high street over the coming months. Let me know what you think.

PHOTOSHOOT AT NUMBER 58

Just a couple of my favourites from the styling shoot on Saturday, we got so lucky with the weather - incroyable one might say. Let me know what you think.

NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM

After an insanely boring week that involved nothing but organising photo shoots, I decided that on Friday I would actually do something productive with my life. Donning my new (and extremely exciting) Topshop leggings and much loved Aran jumper, I met Dani at London Victoria and we tubed it to Kensington High Street for a much needed dose of shopping.

Having successfully blown another load of money I don't have, and spotting a certain DILF's daughter Coco Sumner, we headed to Knightsbridge for a bit of Harvey Nichols. Although notorious for expensive clobber and ‘affluent’ clientele, we were only there for one thing – Wagamama’s. Easily my favourite restaurant going, not only is the food amazing (there’s just so much choice!), the service is fast and the prices are very student friendly.

After wolfing down my noodle soup, we decided to check out ‘Young British Designers: Mapping Future Fashion’, a private showing at the V&A. It was an interesting affair. I have never seen so many trendy Wendy’s gathered together in one place and naturally no outfit passed through without scrutiny. I did notice a return of the quiff (think James Dean in Rebel Without A Cause) and creative interpretations of structured tailoring, however, the novelty of trend spotting soon wore off and I became more interested in getting my portrait done (thanks Norg!).

“Everyone just looked massively pretentious”, I think Raphy pretty much summed that one up. We all felt a little violated afterwards but it was a fun experience nonetheless, topped off perfectly with homemade chocolate ice-lollies and a cup of tea.
