Spotlight: Kate Moss

There was a time where I was sick of hearing about Kate Moss - Glastonbury this, Jamie Hince that, skinny this, fat-friend that - and I'm so glad that the media obsession finally gave way. If it hadn't I probably wouldn't love her as much as I do, because she is, after all, a super (and a British one at that).

These behind the scenes photo's from ShowStudio cements Mossy's super status as well as blowing all those pre-teen models out the water - I'm so glad age is just a number...

Shot by Nick Knight for an upcoming issue of i-D (also featuring Naomi - amazing or what) and styled by the glorious Edward Enninful, the photos look pretty intense. I love this look on Kate and actually don't think it would've worked so beautifully on a taller model - sorry six-footers!

Kate definitely deserves this weeks Spotlight because a) she hasn't been in it for a while and b) she's still got it! Tomorrow morning I'm heading off to a sunnier, warmer climate therefore posting will have to be put on hold for a week, sorry guys. In the meantime you should check out Naomi's shoot on Showstudio, it's not as powerful as Kate's but she's still fabulous, non?

Freja circa 2005...

With work (and the ever stressful holiday packing scenario - more of that later) I've been a little tied up recently - saying that, there's always time for Freja...

These photos are from 2005, how crazy is that?! She clearly championed the whole beautiful-angry thing from the start, I mean seriously, those eyes are killer. She looks so fresh-faced in the bottom picture - it's amazing what 5 years can do to a girl (and just goes to show she can be fierce and feminine all at the same time).

Her street style uniform of black leather jacket, black jeans and band tee (basically fashion funeral attire) is one of my favourites, of course no one can top Abbey Lee but Freja is very close second.

Isn't she just beautiful? Anyway, on to more practical happenings, next week I am going on holiday (yay!) and I am already fretting about what to pack - my wardrobe consists of several pairs of denim cut-offs and yet all the fashion mags are telling me that wearing said shorts is a massive no-no. To pack the shorts or not to pack them, a little help would be much appreciated...

Spotlight: Alejandro

If Steven Klein's and Gaga's hot collab for Alejandro isn't worth a mention for this weeks Spotlight, well, I don't know what is...

I think she is out of this world, in every sense of the word. Although, the Madonna/Christina comparisons are growing a little thin now, they're all amazing artists in their own right - lets just leave it at that, yes?

But seriously, she is a super-force to be reckoned with and Steven Klein has bought her insane vision to life so perfectly. She's always been more than just a singer, she is a performer, an actress and an icon - love her or hate her (Katy Perry ain't a lover that's for sure - "Using blasphemy as entertainment is as cheap as a comedian telling a fart joke.”) you can't deny the Gaga.

If you haven't already seen the visual wonder that is Alejandro (blasphemy in itself, take that Katy Perry) then check it out here, it really is beautiful and weirdly mesmerizing!

H to the Izzo

And so, the festival season has officially started. It's grey and on the verge of raining, yet us Brits will be flocking in our thousands to the Isle of Wight Festival today. I'm not going to lie, I'm jealous of all those soggy-to-be campers. Why? Because Jay-Z is headlining tomorrow night and I completely, totally love him.

He's one of those people, much in my eyes like Stephen Fry, Kevin Spacey and Sir Ian McKellen who I'd love to be my Dad, just imagine how cool that'd be...

This is his latest cover for Rolling Stone, on sale (in America, boo) now and although it's pretty similar to every other magazine he's on, it's still amazing (plus the content looks pretty good too, right?)

He's not the best looking man in the world (sorry Jay) and he sure does love those shades, but his covers are always super-cool (note to self - must look in a thesaurus for words other than 'cool'). He's also married to one of the most amazing female singers ever, which is never a bad thing...

Aren't they just the cutest? So to all you lucky Isle of Wighter's, have fun at Jay-Z for me!! He is the King of America, after all...

Predictions...

Back in February I predicted that Marchesa's stunning AW10 collection would inevitably end up being worn by the lovely Dakota Fanning. Was I right? Of course...

Dakota is literally the perfect person for this dress, don't you think? I love how she still looks her age but really fashion at the same time. It's funny, because of the whole War of the Worlds thing, I really couldn't stand her - I've never known someone cry so much and so annoyingly in one film. But I'm glad that it was a one off and ever since I've thought she was one to watch; she stole the show in The Runaways and she's really coming into her own.

Everything is a little bit up in the air at the moment what with busy work schedules and what-not, but I'll post as much as I can, promise!

Spotlight: Abbey Lee Kershaw

It's no secret that Abbey Lee is my biggest girl crush of all time - I was pretty unintelligible at fashion week thanks to her mere presence, therefore this week's Spotlight (a new Bang Bang You're Dead regular) is dedicated to her beautiful Vogue Nippon editorial.

I was told that this new 'haircut' is actually a wig but either way I think it really suits her (and makes the year it's taken me to grow my severe-bob to shoulder-length all the more worthwhile!) This editorial, featured in the July issue of Vogue Nippon, is one of those shoots that I'd love to have framed in my bedroom and that's saying something - only a few before it have had the honour. Definitely one of my favourite editorials of the year so far...

I've started Spotlight to share my favourite model/editorial of the week, let me know if you like it or not! Also what do you think of Abbey's new haircut, do you prefer her with long hair or short?

Kristen's Got Her Mojo Back...

Hallelujah! Kristen Stewart may have finally turned her disastrous red carpet looks around. Either she sacked her previous stylist, or her stylist actually watched a fashion show or two and got some much needed inspiration. I'm hoping for the former but I'm happy with whichever scenario - doesn't she look so much better?

Another noticeable (and also much needed improvement) was her hair - she's rid the mullet in favour of a long ponytail, fake or not I think this is her secret. The fact that a change in hairstyle can make you feel a million dollars is a little sad, but oh so true.

I was starting to lose hope for Kristen, her red carpet looks were literally the worst of any celebrity over the last year - I just don't understand how her stylist could have cocked it up that much. However, the past is the past and she seems to have turned a new leaf - not only is this look a complete winner, her recent UK Elle editorial (which you can see here) was to-die-for and so, my love for her is reignited.

This Flaunt editorial just goes to show that she literally has got her mojo back, I posted about her Interview editorial last October which is still my favourite Kristen shoot but this is pretty cute...

I know, I know I'm fickle with my celebrity crushes. Kristen hasn't regained girl crush status just yet but if she keeps this whole dressing-good thing up, then who knows! What do you think of Kristen, have you forgiven and forgotten or just banished her from your peripheral altogether?
