From the Runway to Rihanna

At the Glamour Magazine Women of the Year Awards in New York on Monday, Rihanna traded her tough get up for a bit of Stephane Rolland couture (above). The dress looks really good on her; the pleating, the fishtail and the colour - it makes a nice change to see her in something a bit more feminine.

This Jasmine di Milo dress from SS10 also looks stunning. I love how the dress is draped and yet structured at the hip; again I prefer the dress on Rihanna than the skinnier models (I'm normally all for the skinny minnies of the runway, but because there's always one exception, right?)

The Young, The Free & The Untamed

Royal Mail pretty much ruined my life last week. No birthday cards, no The September Issue and no weekly delivery from Love Film. Bad times.

So yesterday morning I was more than happy when the latest issue of Dazed & Confused arrived on my doorstep on time, for once. The 'Wild At Heart' issue features the lovely Abbey Lee (I'm not obsessed, honest) and a great editorial featuring the Nine Daughters and a Stereo boys.

The interview with Snoop Dogg (page 128) is actually really interesting and for a, err, insightful read try There Will Be Blood (page 124) - I'll let you decide for yourselves.

The Last Magazine; Abbey Lee

Abbey Lee is a goddess. These photos from an editorial in The Last Magazine (out now) show her scantily clad and mind-numbingly beautiful.

Kristen Stuart: Girl Crush

I really, really REALLY want this issue of Interview. Kristen Stewart caught my eye in Into The Wild and now she's been catapulted into superstardom thanks to the Twilight films.

It's no bad thing, she's incredibly beautiful and doesn't take any bullshit (check out Dazed and Confused October issue). I can't wait to see her in Adventureland and the new Joan Jett epic; although I'm so not keen on the mullet (please god don't make the mullet 'Springs essential hair cut')

She is perfect for fashion and I think this photoshoot explains itself wordlessly.

No Explanation Needed

The shoes. The detail. The clothes. I'm lost for words, quite literally. McQueen has done it again. I'm already obsessing over shoes which I'll never be able to afford, but, isn't that the point?

"McQueen's message throughout was essentially sunk into the short dress—a steady development of his engineered sea-reptile prints, worked into a nipped-waist, belled-skirt silhouette. The colors—first green and brown, moving to aqua and blue—were exceptionally executed and swagged, and molded across panniered structures. Each dress was a work of computer-generated art crossbred with McQueen's couture-based signature cut." - style.com

Jenny Saville is an artist I love and respect. Her giant-sized paintings address some really contraversial issues and are incredible to look at. Although her images have been nuked by art students the world over, I wanted to share the love with anyone unfamiliar.

These are just a few of my favourite portraits, however, you should check out her other stuff for the monumental scale of her work.

New York, New York

Paloma Faith was always only ever in my peripheral vision. Now she's in my rear-view mirror and she's definitely someone I'm going to keep my eye on.

The British red-head has a completely soulful voice, think Winehouse injected with pop (and minus the drugs), and she has a really dark 50s vibe about her. As always, I'm late on the get-up, but I do love these photos.

(you might recognise 'I Just Wait' from those government ads about drinking, what was it? "You wouldn't start a night like this, so don't end it like this")
