IT'S A 'J' THING

I know this is late. Overdue, infact.

Jethro from January A/W Catwalks, and Josh, being, well, Josh.
The most beautiful boys in fashion? I think so.

Need I say more? No.

IN BRIEF: FASHION WEEK

Although there were, in my eyes, some questionable A/W collections (Henry Holland foe example looked as though he had taken inspiration from a Homebase colour chart), I have put together some of my favourite looks for next season.

Apologies for the ridiculously small pictures, I am yet to get a decent editing program.

I loved the overall aesthetic at Mark Fast and can't wait for affordable interpretations to turn up across the high street over the coming months. Let me know what you think.

PHOTOSHOOT AT NUMBER 58

Just a couple of my favourites from the styling shoot on Saturday, we got so lucky with the weather - incroyable one might say. Let me know what you think.

NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM

After an insanely boring week that involved nothing but organising photo shoots, I decided that on Friday I would actually do something productive with my life. Donning my new (and extremely exciting) Topshop leggings and much loved Aran jumper, I met Dani at London Victoria and we tubed it to Kensington High Street for a much needed dose of shopping.

Having successfully blown another load of money I don't have, and spotting a certain DILF's daughter Coco Sumner, we headed to Knightsbridge for a bit of Harvey Nichols. Although notorious for expensive clobber and ‘affluent’ clientele, we were only there for one thing – Wagamama’s. Easily my favourite restaurant going, not only is the food amazing (there’s just so much choice!), the service is fast and the prices are very student friendly.

After wolfing down my noodle soup, we decided to check out ‘Young British Designers: Mapping Future Fashion’, a private showing at the V&A. It was an interesting affair. I have never seen so many trendy Wendy’s gathered together in one place and naturally no outfit passed through without scrutiny. I did notice a return of the quiff (think James Dean in Rebel Without A Cause) and creative interpretations of structured tailoring, however, the novelty of trend spotting soon wore off and I became more interested in getting my portrait done (thanks Norg!).

“Everyone just looked massively pretentious”, I think Raphy pretty much summed that one up. We all felt a little violated afterwards but it was a fun experience nonetheless, topped off perfectly with homemade chocolate ice-lollies and a cup of tea.

HUNTING ADVENTURES

With London Fashion Week in full swing, Dani and myself headed down to South Kensington this morning to get in on the action. Proceedings were, however, cut short after we suffered a low blow. Fashion Week is not student friendly. We strolled through the first lot of security with ease, though with no invite we clearly weren't going anywhere fast (apparently it helps if you're actually invited, what ARE the chances?). It was worth a try and although we had no luck, we did get a glimpse of British beauty and face of Marks and Spencers, Erin O'Connor.

Maybe it was karma, or maybe it was a case of 'in the right place at the right time' either way our day improved considerably soon after the initial setback. Whilst waiting in the queue in Topshop Oxford Circus for my free canvas tote (courtesy of Anne Sofie Back, Richard Nicoll and Todd Lynn), Dani spots out Ali Stephens, Imogen Morris Clark and Hanne Gaby Odiele. So thats three models in the space of about 5 minutes, good call. Although i'm not religious, someone somewhere must love us - shortly after I found the bodycon zip through dress in my size, which never EVER happens.

When Dani pointed out this morning that although we had a pretty dire start to the day, something amazing would happen in return, I was not expecting what was coming next. After lunching in the ridiculously glamorous forecourt at Macdonalds, we returned to Topshop once more to find another dress i'd previously forgotten. We didn't find another dress, we did however find a Mr Kanye West. Needless to say, we were particularly starstruck and the chance for a photo-op was not to be missed, so I walked over and asked the man himself. He seemed pretty chilled and was more than happy to oblige, Topshop however, were not. After being told several times to "put the camera away", I backed down: Kanye on the other hand..."just do it, just do it, do it without them seeing", somehow I think not.

A bad start to the day doesn't mean things won't perk up, I never took the photo (who knows why, its only Topshop) but I reckon we had more fun eating Hummingbird cupcakes and celebrity spotting than we would have crammed in a tent, boiling our brains out. We came away with a couple of canvas bags, magazines, newspapers and some disgusting expresso and the knowledge that we can have a good time when things go wrong. Enough of the moral high horse, we actually discovered that Fashion Week hates us student types and that we love free stuff, not that we didn't already know that...

SECOND THE BEST

LOVE Magazine, the brainchild of POP Editor Katie Grand, has only 10 days left till its debut on 19th February.

Preview covers have recently been released and feature the likes of a [typically] scantily clad Iggy Pop, a violet haired Iris Strubegger and Agyness Deyn as our very own Queen Elizabeth II. However the fate of the real cover is still unknown, creating even more hype surrounding the awaited mag.

Those lucky enough to be attending London Fashion Week can get their mitts on the first "Fashion and Fame" issue, they'll be handed out at various different shows. However, sadly for the rest of us, we'll have to wait until the 19th to get our hands on it.
